Extra Care

Extra Care (also known as assisted living) is a long-term package of care that is delivered within one building. The way it works is each service user has there own self-contained apartment, with their own front door, but staff are on-site 24 hours per day to provide personal care and support services (Similar to Domiciliary Care). These are tailored to the individual and can include help with washing, dressing, going to the toilet, and taking medication. Domestic help, such as shopping and laundry, and meals may also be provided. We provide this service to 220+ vulnerable adults within our extra care schemes.

We currently operate this service within 7 extra care schemes these include Mill Rise (Located In Newcastle Under Lyme), Brunel Court (Located In Wombourne), School Court (Located In Hednesford), Chestnut Grange (Located In Burton), McGregor Tithe (Located In Tamworth), Beacon Park (Located In Lichfield) and Jubilee Court (Located In Stafford). This service started for us in 2019 when School Court and Brunel Court were transferred to us. Since then, we have gown this area of the business with recently acquiring Chestnut Grange, Beacon Park, Jubilee Court and McGregor Tithe.

Nexxus care are a part of Staffordshire County Council framework of preferred providers, when a need is identified for care within an individual’s home this is presented to us and if Nexxus can accommodate the commissioned hours safely and effectively, we will. However, we can provide this service to those who wish to purchase this privately and live in the schemes.

Unlike sheltered housing, extra care is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). They inspect the facilities and provide ratings. These ratings can be accessed by viewing them on the CQC website, search by location at the top of there main page and you will be able to find individual ratings based of each extra care scheme.
