The Mental Health Foundation Support
As our company is in the care sector (we provide care jobs in Staffordshire), we take supporting mental health close to our hearts. This year’s mental health awareness week was all about “loneliness”.
Nexxus care services vary from supporting clients coming out of hospital to ongoing care in their own homes and even long term residential care. Covid has highlighted the fact care workers can be the only people our residents or service users see or even speak to daily. I’m sure this touches your heart as much as ours!
Each of our care services has highlighted to us different stories of loneliness. And while we have seen this ourselves, particularly during the pandemic this is often reality for our service users today.
It’s shocking that 45% of adults in the UK experience loneliness, the majority being those vulnerable adults like the ones that we support.
Have you ever stopped to think, about how lonely you would feel not having a conversation with someone from one day to the next? We certainly wouldn’t like it and I’m sure our mental health and social skills would struggle. Again this can be a reality for some adults within the UK.
It’s because of this we have been doing our best to support the mental health foundation. We have successfully hosted a raffle raising a total of £360.18
We did this to raise as much money and awareness as possible to support those experiencing loneliness. It was a huge success and our staff loved participating!
