Chestnut Grange is a large retirement living scheme that is open for anyone over 55 to apply to move into when apartments become available. However, elements of this retirement scheme include the delivery of care, and all rental applicants are reviewed by a panel which consists of the housing and care providers and the Local Authority Therefore, it is marked as an extra care scheme. Nexxus Care transferred over to its services recently in 2023. Chestnut Grange is our newest built extra care scheme being built in 2012 and opened by His Royal Highness the Duke Of Gloucester KG GCVO in 2013.

Chestnut Grange is located in the centre of Burton upon Trent and has been in operation for 10 years. The building is a 67 bedded scheme, which comprises 52 rental and 15 shared ownership properties. Nexxus currently provide care to 30 of those living in the scheme.

The building itself is owned by housing provider Trent & Dove and they have done a great job in ensuring the building provides a homely and friendly atmosphere. The building has some great features but what really stands out is the garden and lounge/dining room area. The garden is a completely accessible large area of upkept green land that features summer houses and many seating areas. The other key feature of this building can be seen just to the left as you walk into the building, the lounge/dining area has a super high glass ceiling that brightens this space creating a happy atmosphere and if you wanted to get closer to the glass ceiling you can! Simply go up the stairs and sit on one of the 2 beautiful indoor balconies that overlook this stunning area.

Although, the service we provide within our extra care schemes is similar to the way we run our Domiciliary care service. Referrals are dealt with in a different way. When a new individual moves into an apartment at Chestnut Grange the housing provider assesses that individual to understand whether or not they will need care to be provided. Once a need is identified depending on that individuals circumstances the housing provider comes to us to see if we have the capacity to take on that call. If Nexxus can accommodate the hours safely and effectively, we will commence care as soon as possible (N.B. Subject to pre-admission assessments). We can take on any package of care whether it is through brokerage or private.

There are a number of GP surgeries, dentists and opticians within a few miles of the service.

The bus stop is a few minutes walk away and has connections in and around Burton.

There is on-site parking available.

The Octagon shopping centre is only 1 mile away.

We’re in a quiet residential area of Cannock.

There are lots of supermarkets nearby, including Asda, Aldi, Waitrose and Morrisons.

There are a number of GP surgeries, dentists and opticians within a few miles of the service.

The bus stop is a few minutes walk away and has connections to Cannock, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Cannock train station is a five minute drive away with direct trains to Birmingham and Rugeley Trent Valley.

There is on-site parking available for people with cars.
